2018 Holiday Travel Gift Guide

The holidays are right around the corner and while the retail season seems to start earlier and earlier each year, there’s something nice about knocking you shopping out sooner rather than later so you can spend more time enjoying all of the festivities that come with this time of year.  And for the person on your list who’s already dreaming about where their 2019 travels will take them, my annual gift guide may be good place to start for inspiration.  This year’s roundup includes gift giving ideas for 8 different types of travelers to cover everyone on your holiday shopping list.

Be sure to check out the link to past gift guides at the end of this post for even more ideas.  Happy browsing and happy holidays!

1. FOR THE FOODIE: Global Spices
One of the best things about travel is the food.  And while many of us return home with the hope of recreating specific dishes, it’s hard to succeed without the right spices.  Problem solved thanks to World Spice Merchants, which offers an amazing assortment of more than 200 spices and seasonings from around the globe.  Choose a starter kit with 16 different spices and companion cookbook, or shop by spice region or type and get cooking.  No passport required.  worldspice.com

2. FOR THE FITNESS-FOCUSED: YoFoMat
Sticking to your workout routine on the go can be challenging, but the packable YoFoMat from Khatland makes it just that much easier.  This full-size mat comes in a variety of thicknesses and colors and folds down to about the size of a textbook so you can squeeze in some yoga, pilates, core work (planks anyone?), etc. wherever you are.  It also comes with a handy carrying case for easy transport and storage.  khataland.com

3. FOR THE FASHIONISTA: Jewelry Organizer
This leather jewelry organizer is perfect for the girl who has everything, or at least the girl that hates untangling her jewelry while traveling.  It’s small and compact with a secure zipper closure, and incudes a pouch in the lid, ring holders and two removable dividers so you can customize it to your fit needs.  amazon.com

4. FOR THE GUY’S GUY: Shaving Kit
Grooming on the road is a no brainer thanks to the Dollar Shave Club’s Traveler Bundle.  It includes travel-sized versions of their easy shave butter and post shave cream along with a durable, water-resistant bag.  Combine this bundle with one of the Dollar Shave Club’s trial kits for even more mini products to round out the perfect travel routine.  dollarshaveclub.com

5. FOR THE OUTDOORS ENTHUSIAST: Camping Hammock
For the outdoorsman (or woman) who has everything, I can’t think of a more versatile, not to mention relaxing, gift idea than a double hammock.  I particularly like the DoubleNest Hammock from Eagle Next Outfitters, which is super durable, lightweight and easily stuffs into its built-in storage pouch (hammock straps sold separately).  It’s ideal for camping, hiking or wherever your travels take you, even if it’s only as far as your own backyard.  Plus, for every hammock sold the company plants two trees in a place of need.  eaglesnestoutfittersinc.com

6. FOR THE SAVVY PACKER: Foldable Duffle Bag
Pack light without worrying about not having enough room for what you may bring back during your travels thanks to the Fold-Up Bag from Paravel.  Self-described as the perfect extra bag, it zips flat into its own self-contained pouch and unfolds to a full-size duffel that can be used for as a carry on or extra bag coming home (not to mention for daytrips or excursions while you’re traveling).  I especially love the bag’s simple, beautiful design that comes in a variety of eye-catching color combinations. Monogram embroidery is also available for an extra personal touch.  tourparavel.com

7. FOR THE DREAMER: Push Pin Globe
For those with perpetual wanderlust, this cork globe is a fresh update to the typical push pin travel map.  Use colored pins to track your travels, from where you’ve been to where you want to go next and everything in between.  It’s available in two sizes and with a simple, modern design it makes for a great addition to any desk or bookshelf.  Let the daydreaming begin.  uncommongoods.com

8. FOR THE TINY TRAVELER: Travel Bingo Cards
Visiting a new place is like one big scavenger hunt for kids and these city-specific Bingo cards are fun the entire family can get in on.  The beautiful watercolor illustrations first caught my eye, highlighting sites, food and other destination-specific details in cities including London, Paris, Venice, Amsterdam, San Francisco and Morocco.  Each listing includes a set of 5 cards so you can play along with up to 4 of your closest family and friends.  etsy.com
