There’s no denying the beauty of Venice, especially the island city’s charming canals and maze-like streets that make it the perfect place to get lost without really ever loosing your way.
TOP TIPS:
STAY in a canal-side hotel or apartment to truly experience the lifeblood of the city right outside your doorstep.
DO window shop (beautiful Venetian masks and blown glass make for perfect eye candy) and island hop beyond Murano to the colorful Burano (where handmade lace is a specialty).
EAT al fresco (my most memorable meal was at Pizzeria Trattoria Vesuvio in the Cannaregio district) and order a quintessential spritz aperitivo before your meal.
DISCOVER the tradition of the gondoliere by trying out your own rowing skills, and be sure not to miss the pink-hued St. Mark’s Square at sunset.
